Kutaisi beats Mgzavrebi at the last seconds

13th tour of the Superleague has continued today in Tbilisi. Due to the calendar, 3 matches will be held in Tbilisi Olympic Palace. This tour will finish tomorrow in Batumi between locals and Titebi.

Mgzavrebi and Kutaisi met in the first match held at Olympic Palace. 1st round match between these teams ended with Mgzavrebi’s victory in Kutaisi – 80:78. This was the one and only match for Kutaisians, which they lost at home. Accordingly, it was a kind of revenge from them.

Kutaisi had 12-points leadership after the first period (30:18), which slowly slipped away. Despite the fact, that Rezo Chachanidze left the court because of two unsportman-like fouls, the hosts still managed to tie the game and were reducing the difference methodically. The score became equal in the third period. After that, Kutaisi’s head coach left the match as well. Kote tugushi got two technical fouls because of protesting a decision of referee and moved to the tribune.

It was obvious that the winner wouldn’t be revealed until the very end. Kutaisians showed more accuracy and fightability in the decisive period, as for Mgzavrebi, they missed two balls and eventually lost 86:82. Kutaisians strengthened their place.

De Juan Wright led the winners with 21 points. Akaki Dvalishvili collected 15 points. Terrens Thompson scored double-double – 12 points and 11 rebounds. Kakha Jintcharadze was the most effective with 20 points and 12 rebounds in Mgzavrebi. Jacob Armstrong scored 21 points and 8 rebounds.
