The Georgian Basketball National Federation is continuously executing a large-scale project aimed at improving regional infrastructure and promoting a healthy lifestyle among youth. Implemented in partnership with the FIBA Youth Development Fund and co-financed by the National Federation, this program has been developing successfully for four consecutive years, fostering and strengthening basketball hubs across various regions of the country.
On September 25, another working visit was carried out to Senaki within the framework of this project. Notably, over the past two years, representatives of the federation have visited the Senaki Basketball School for the fourth time. This visit took on an even broader scale, thanks to the significant role played by Varlam Liparteliani — member of the Sports and Youth Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, decorated Georgian judoka, multi-time European champion, and chairman of the youth organization of ‘Georgian Dream’.
Varlam Liparteliani systematically travels across Georgia’s regions, assessing the condition of sports infrastructure on-site, and helping local sports sections improve their material and technical bases, as well as resolving bureaucratic and legislative procedures efficiently and expeditiously.
It was precisely through close communication and cooperation with Varlam Liparteliani that the latest visit of the National Federation’s Regional Department was planned and executed. One of the main needs of the Senaki Basketball School was modern, top-standard basketball rims to be installed on the backboards. Identified during Liparteliani’s regional visit, this request was promptly incorporated by the federation into the project plan; the equipment was ordered and, upon arrival in Georgia, immediately transported to Senaki and installed.
While previously under this ongoing project, youth in Senaki — both boys’ and girls’ teams — had received various basketball inventory multiple times, on this occasion, along with the new rims, the sports school received a batch of the latest basketballs, making the local training process even more productive and dynamic.
The joint project of the Georgian Basketball National Federation and FIBA continues actively. The infrastructure and material support program will expand further, bringing direct benefits to various regions across Georgia in the near future.
