In a continued effort to promote and develop basketball in the regions, the Georgian Basketball Federation recently visited Tsnori in the Sighnaghi Municipality. This visit was part of an ongoing program implemented in collaboration with the FIBA Youth Development Fund, which aims to equip regional basketball federations with necessary inventory.
Shalva Oniani, head of the Federation’s Regional Development Department, personally delivered a modern basketball scoreboard and a 24-second shot clock to Tsnori’s newly built basketball hall. This addition brings the total number of Georgian cities equipped with modern scoreboards to 11.
Key local officials, including Sighnaghi Municipality Mayor Malkhaz Begiashvili and his deputies, Davit Durglishvili and Gocha Vardiashvili, along with Tsnori city administrative representative Tamaz Matheshvili, met with Shalva Oniani to receive the equipment. Other notable attendees included Davit Janikashvili, Chairman of the Sighnaghi Municipality Council, Giorgi Baghanashvili, Head of Infrastructure, Spatial Arrangement, Construction, Architecture and Monuments Protection Service, Shota Begiashvili, Director of the Sports Development Center, and Giorgi Gurashvili, basketball section coach.
In addition to the new scoreboard and shot clock, the Tsnori hall’s sports ground was replaced with a modern wooden floor, thanks to the recommendation of the Georgian Basketball Federation and the active involvement of Mayor Malkhaz Begiashvili. These upgrades ensure that Tsnori’s basketball facilities now meet contemporary standards.
The Georgian Basketball Federation remains committed to its regional development and promotion program, continuing to support cities and villages with active basketball communities by providing essential equipment and support.
