The 3rd round of the Super League opened in Batumi today. Adjara club hosted Rustavi and this match was the first in the current Super League for Qvemo Qartli team. The current champion lost the Super Cup against Kutaisi on October 17 and was resting in the next round of the Super League. Batumi has already managed to accumulate 2 losses – Buba Berishvili’s team lost to Vera in Tbilisi, and in the last round they lost to Dinamo at home in overtime.
Consequently, the victory was of solid importance for both teams. Batumi ended an unlucky series and celebrated their first victory in the Super League. Qvemo Qartli coached by Anatoli Boisa could not properly resist the hosts and gave up their debut match in the newly started Super League with a big difference – 77:96 (Statistics).
Batumi won all periods. Accordingly, Rustavi wasn’t given a real chance to win. The hosts outscored the opponent both under the cover and in the back line. The advantage of the Adjara team was visible during the whole match.
American Legionnaire Isaiah Traylor led the winners with 25 points. Beqa Beqauri collected 19 points and 12 rebounds. Saba Lobjanidze had 23 points. Ishmael Hollis was the most effective in Rustavi with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Ricky Price scored 16 points and 7 assists.
