Dinamo defeated Mgzavrebi and reached the Super League Finals

Dinamo Tbilisi is in the Super League finals. The team trained by Irakli Khoshtaria defeated Mgzavrebi 72:61 in the 4th match of the semi-finals and won the series 3:1. Dinamo players will have to defend the champion title against the winner of tomorrow’s match between Kutaisi and Rustavi.

Mgzavrebi finished the regular championship on the 7th place and it is a solid result for this team to play in semi-finals. The team trained by Buba Berishvili won only one match of the series against the current champions. They also fought today, but it turned out that they didn’t have enough strength.

The first half was almost equal, but Dinamo made changes in the third period. They had 7-points lead before the big break. Than they increased the difference to 18 points before the final quarter.

It is realistic to eliminate 18-points difference, but Mgzavrebi weren’t able to do it. Kiel Turpin led the winners with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Mikheil Berishvili scored 21 points. Nodar Gogodze had 8 points. Adrian Bowie was the only player, who scored more than 10 points in Mgzavrebi, he accumulated 16 points. Otar Pkhakadze, Giorgi Qavtaradze and Bernard Nkal scored 8-8 points each.

Dinamo is in the finals and is waiting for the rival, which will be revealed in the 5th and decisive match tomorrow, between Kutaisi and Rustavi.

Irakli Khoshtaria – Dinamo head coach:

“Considering that we are champions of the previous year, the goal was to play in the final. So the result is satisfying. As for Mgzavrebi, I wish them success, every game was very difficult with them. Tomorrow is a decisive game, we will wait and get ready for finals, everything is ahead yet.”

Levan Grdzelidze – Dinamo player:

“Thanks to Mgzavrebi for such an interesting game. It is a very good team with a good coach. I congratulate Dinamo with this victory, we played well, final result was 3:1 and we won the ticket for finals. We had mistakes, but we will try to meet the finals properly.”
