5th round of the Superleague finished with a tense match. One of the leaders of the championship – TSU played with one of the outsiders – Cactus and lost at the last minute due to its negligence. TSU trained by Leqso Lapanashvili started the current Superleague with 3 victories, after which they were defeated by Olimpi and now they lost with Cactus, who had had just 1 victory before this match.
However, TSU was leading throughout the game. Their leadership reached more than 10 points in the final period – 68:57, after which Cactus managed to tie the game. It is likely that TSU players considered it premature that the match had been won already. Cactus, trained by Archil Jghenti, did their best, equalized the score, than advanced by 4 points and decided the fate of the match – 78:75.
Brian Williams led the winners with 21 points. Justin Everett scored 15 points and 11 rebounds. Mikheil Chochua had 16 points. Riky Madison was the most effective with 20 points and 9 rebounds in TSU. Giorgi Korsantia scored 14 points and 15 rebounds. Sandro Sanadze had 14 points.
There’s an interesting condition in the standings after the 5th round. Vera, Batumi and TSU are on 1-3 places with 3 victories and 2 defeats. Titebi is leading with lost points having 3 victories and 1 loss.
6th round matches of the Superleague will be held on November 15, 16 and 17.
