This year’s season of the Super League is over for Sokhumi. The team trained by Gia Kazanjiani and Mikheil Kobeshavidze held the last match of this regular championship with Cactus. Sokhumi won only one of the 32 matches and took the last place.
Sokhumi still got a chance to stay in the Super League. With the decision of the Board of Basketball Federation, the number of teams in the Super League will be increased from the next season. Sokhumi needs to hold the qualifying matches with Titebi. The series will last until two victories and the winner will take the 10th place in the 2018-2019 Super League.
As for today’s match, Sokhumi lost 82:99 with Cactus. American legionary Kwan Waller returned to Sokhumi, after the federation’s decision, which gave Sokhumi a chance to stay in the Super League. Waller scored 24 points, Sokhumi didn’t lose desperately, like the previous matches. After an equal first period, Cactus gained an advantage. Finally, the team trained by Archil Jghenti, defeated Sokhumi 99:82 and took the second place in the standings.
Levan Gogaladze led the winners with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. John Mitchell scored 21 points. Christian Johnson accumulated 17 points. Waller was the most effective with 24 points in Sokhumi. Levan Revazashvili scored 18 points and 10 rebounds. Sergo Atuashvili had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Cactus will hold the last match of the regular championship with Mgzavrebi on April 29. One match will hold today at 19:00 in Rustavi were Mgzavrebi will play.
