Team of Tbilisi State University Defeated Mega in Overtime

In order to reveal the winner of today’s second game, teams had to play overtime, just like the previous match. TSU was able to gain victory in this important and tensed game defeating opponent by 81:78. After today’s game, Tbilisi State University has lost 4 and won 4 games in going championship. The game was indeed very tensed. Before the last quarter TSU was taking the lead by 13 points, however Mega is always fighting till the last seconds, thanks to their fighting spirit cutting down difference and gaining chance for victory. Another issue is their missed opportunities. Team coached  by Nikoloz Cherkezishvili lost 7 out of 9 games however had real chance to win almost in every match.
situation was similar against TSU as well. After winning first half by 8 points, university team increased the pace even more and raised difference to 13 points. Before the last quarter, outcome of the match seemed to be decided. However thanks to Cherkezishvili’s great coaching tactics and players fighting spirit Mega was able to tie the score at the last second of the main time and. We should outline wonderful performance by young Giorgi Kobakhidze’s. His three-pointer shots caused Mega’s comeback and overtime in the match.

In the middle of the overtime, Mega was winning by 4 points and had the ball to attack, however Marcus Gilson could not score and TSU in responsive attack cut down difference to 2 points. Thanks to great defense, university team stall the ball and tied the score. Players of National team, Giorgi Tsintsadze, Beka Bekauri, Mikheil Berishvili played at high level in decisive moments. In 2 minutes, TSU scored 8 unanswered points and 30 seconds before the final buzzer advanced by 4 points -81:77. Lekso Lapanashvili’s team was able to maintain the advantage till the end of the game and won its 4th game in ongoing championship.

Giorgi Tsintsadze with 20 points, 7 assists and 6 rebounds was the most vulnerable player among the winners. Beka Bekauri scored 16 points, 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. Cory Bowen collected 10 points. Kobakhidze with 18 points, 6 rebounds, had best result among Mega players. Otar Buliava with 21 points was the best scorer among Mega. Marcus Gilson contributed 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 points.
