The last semifinalist of the Super League is Tskhum-Apkhazeti. The team coached by Nikoloz Cherkezishvili and Irakli Dzidziguri defeated Olimpi in the decisive match of the quarterfinal series with a convincing difference – 79:58 (Statistics) and completed the top four in the Super League. Before Tskhum-Apkhazeti, Rustavi, Cactus and Dinamo reached the semifinals. Tskhumi will meet Dinamo in the semifinal, therefore, Rustavi will face Cactus in the second semifinal pair.
The match between Tskhum-Apkhazeti and Olimpi started in such a fight that many thought that the name of the winner would be unknown until the last second. Olimpi, coached by Davit Rogava, won the first and the most equal first quarter – 17:15, thanks to quick counterattacks.
From the middle of the second period, the advantage of Tskhum-Apkhazeti was outlined. Cherkezishvili’s team strengthened in defense and did not miss any chance of attack. Tskhumi was scoring points in every possible way – long-range shots, short-distance, free-throws. They were carrying out attacks and used the height of the centers.
Accordingly, in the last minutes of the second period, Tskhum-Apkhazeti made an escape and went to a big break with an 8-point lead. From the third period, Tskhumi strengthened its leadership even more, which was the merit of the team game. Cherkezishvili’s team gained an advantage of 20 points, which became an insurmountable barrier for Olmpi and the game ended with the victory of Tskhum-Apkhazeti.
Alexandre Phevadze led the winners with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Raheem Johnson scored 14 points as well. Tyler Green had 11 points and 7 assists. One player exceeded the ten-point mark in Cactus – Kakha Jintcharadze, who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Otar Pkhakadze and Bundu Abdulai collected 8-8 points each.
