Rustavi’s Conceiving Victory Against Mega

Rustavi’s Conceiving Victory Against Mega

The 3rd tour of the Super League, which started in Kutaisi on November 4, continued in Rustavi on Saturday. Tbilisi Mega visited Kvemo Kartli. We witnessed confrontation between Rustavi, which has won both games of ongoing season, and Mega, the current outsider of super league. Rustavi coached by Anatoli Boisa, continued the winning streak and continues to hold the first in standings Super League, which is a great drive for the coach of the national team before the upcoming world cup qualifiers window, where Georgian national team awaits to have super-principle match against Iceland.

Rustavi has gathered fairly balanced, mobile, strong team for this season. They have always distinguished by having 3-4  high class legionnaires for the beginning of the season and has competed successfully in Super League – sometimes coming third, sometimes it was in the middle, sometimes it fought to stay in the league, and in the 2020-2021 season, after an 11-year break, it became the champion.

This time, Rustavi started the season with only 1 legionnaire, and in the match against Mega, the second American, Trey Croft, made his debut in the team, however it should be noted that none of foreign players have role of a leader in the team. Georgians are the driving force of the team, young players, the ones from city Rustavi as well. This year The team invited the candidate of the national team, 24-year-old Luka Bulashvili, his friend, Levan Babilodze from Batumi, experienced player Revaz Rogava and 21-year-old Anzor Nadiradze. The rest are all from Rustavi among who Guga Patashuri, Zura Vashakidze and Davit Loria should be specially distinguished. Experienced Akaki Dvalishvili, is undergoing rehabilitation after the surgery on his leg, and will join Rustavi’s leaders day by day. The presence of other 3 players from Rustavi Davit Chkheidze, Levan Turashvili and Nika Jankarashvili is worth noting as well.

Rustaveli easily won the game against Mega. Boisa’s team was quick and organized.  They did not give opponent any chance to succeed. The hosts started the game with a 15:0 run. The hosts scored 16 three-pointers and performed at high level under the opponent’s rim as well. Avery Diggs was unstoppable, scoring 21 points (+11 rebounds), missing only one court shoot and one free throw. Luka Bulashvili scored 10 out of the 21 points helped Rustavi to advance with a double score (46:23).

After that, the game lost its interest, because the identity of the winner was clear, and the game turned into a desirable and spectacular sight for Rustavi fans. At the end of the match, the audience saw a number of graceful episodes. The final score of the meeting was 105:74 (statistics), thus with this victory the team coached by Anatoly Boisa set several records of the current season.

Rustavi is the first team that reached 100 points mark. Rustaveli made the most – 31 assists. Shot three-pointers with the highest (57%) percentage, and repeated the result shown in the second round of “Tulips” against “Mega” with the number of scored three-pointers (16).

Rustavi is the only team that has played 3 matches in the current championship and won all of them. The remaining 3 matches of the 3rd round of the Super League will be held on November 6 at the Tbilisi Arena.
