Tornike Shengelia is expected to return to the court on October 27th

Great news for Georgian fans: according to Italian media, the captain of the Georgian national team, who suffered a serious shoulder injury in the match against the Netherlands on August 24, is returning to the court. The Georgian forward of “Virtus Bologna” is ready to play. They are waiting for him on the field in the Euroleague match against “Real” on October 27 in Madrid.

We remind you that Shengelia injured his arm in the qualifying match of the 2023 World Championship, which took place a few days before the start of EuroBasket. After careful examinations by doctors, he survived the operation and continued treatment with a therapeutic course. As planned, Tornike would be ready to return to the court by the end of October. Most likely, the audience will see him in Madrid, where the most important match of “Bologna” against the Royal Club will take place.

This news is especially joyful, as the Georgian national team will play decisive world cup qualifiers games in mid-November: in Iceland on the 11th and in Tbilisi, against Italy on October 14th.

31-year-old Tornike Shengelia joined Virtus Bologna in the spring after leaving Russia and became the winner of the European Basketball Cup and was the vice-championship in the Italian league. Despite the injury, Virtus Bologna signed a contract with the Georgian basketball player before the new season.
