The group stage of the Dudu Dadiani Memorial is over. In the last meeting, which was held between the leaders of A group, we saw a tense and unrelenting battle. TSU won by 2 points – 75:73 and reached the first place of the group, however, Olimpi also went to the playoffs. The team coached by David Rogava reached the semifinal with the status of the best runner-up.
TSU was leading convincingly most of the match. University team was winning 18 points in the middle of the match, however, in the third period, TSU player Giorgi Tsintsadze got an injury, which only helped Olimpi. The Olympians began to reduce the gap with quick attacks. In the third ten minutes, the team coached by Rogava won 26:16 and even have an ambition to win in the final period.
Nika Darbaidze, a member of TSU’s starting five, fouled out of the court in the final minutes. The Olympians advanced at the last minute, however, TSU legionnaire Lovell Cabbil advanced the team 75:73 with an accurate three-pointer and decided the fate of the match.
The semifinal matches will be held on October 8.
