CIU reduced the difference in A League final series

In the third match of the final series of A League CIU, trained by Bojan Salatic, defeated Vera and remained chance to go to the Superleague. Vera won first two matches of the series and lacked just one more step before the final victory, but CIU played fully mobilized today and gained a deserved victory – 76:55.

As it was supposed, the Caucasians played without psychological pressure. They had nothing to lose. CIU won the first period 24:13 and even increased the leadership to 14 points in the second one. Vera’c coach took a one minute break after which, his players tied the game. Thanks to long range shoots and fast breaks, Vera reduced the difference to 3 points, but it didn’t help eventually.

CIU recovered its 10-points leadership from the third quarter. Vera was trying to reduce the difference again, however, in spite of Vera’s good play, CIU didn’t give up and remained their advantage until the end. The score in the series became 1:2.

Wendell Lewis led the winners with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Andre Walker scored 15 points and 10 rebounds. Richard Matiashvili collected 14 points and 9 rebounds. Davit Barbaqadze had 13 points and 9 rebounds. Vakhtang Qadaria and Bryson Scot were the most effective in Vera with 14 and 11 points respectively.
