Basketball club Vera advanced in A League series 2:0 and got closer to the Superleague. Vera trained by Milos Pajic defeated CIU 72:67 and now they lack one more victory to end the final series in favor of them.
On the other hand, CIU will play without stress and tension in the third match as the score is 2:0 already. However, we will see it in the next days. As for today, Vera was on the high level again. They just gave up leadership for a short episode.
They gained leadership from the very beginning, won the first period 17:13 and had 10-points advantage for the big break. Givi Baqradze and Brandon Slay were leading Vera’s attacks wisely. Bernard Nkal and Vakhtang Qadaria were extremely good under the reem. CIU’s centre – Wendell Lewis performed better than in the previous match, but the other legionnaire – Andre Walker had a hand injury which was interrupting him.
Despite the problems, CIU tied the game in the third period thanks to Kote Bitsadze, Beqa Tsivtsivadze, Davit Barbaqadze, Nika Metskhvarishvili and above-mentioned Wendell Lewis. Richard Matiashvili managed to stop Vera’s players and their well-thoughtout game led to advantage in the third period. The leadership was by 1 point though and they lost it soon.
The final period was more tense, Vera was leading by 5-8 points, however, CIU was remaining chance until the end. The difference was hust 3 points on the last minute. Vera didn’t get confused and deserved the victory.
Bryson Scot led the winners with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Ivan Saicic scored 16 points. Brandon Slay had 14 points. Lewis was the most effective with 17 points and 10 rebounds in CIU. Kote Bitsadze scored 13 points, Beqa Tsivtsivadze had 12.
Third match of the final series will be held on April 17th, in Tbilisi Olympic Palace at 18:00.
