Zestaponi defeated Sportuni by a record difference of the season

A record difference of this season was shown in an A League championship. Zestaponi, trained by Sergo Atuashvili, defeated Sportuni with a 39-point difference – 97:58 (სტატისტიკა) and gained its first victory in the current season. Atuashvili led Zestaponi for the first time. The team was not accompanied by Lithuanian head coach Barkus Paulius, under whose leadership Zestaponi lost to Orbi and Mega in the initial rounds.

As for today’s match, the report also shows that the battle did not take place. Sportuni is in trouble. The team defeated Orbi in the first round, but after that they can no longer get the desired result. Zestaponi closed the case in the first half, when they advanced by 21 points. However, the leaders did not drop the pace, won the next – third and fourth periods and eventually the match by a record difference.

Otar Buliava led the winners with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Vytautas Kamarunas collected 18 points. Donnell Cegers scored 15 points and 12 rebounds. Saba Geguchadze was a top-scorer in Sportuni with 14 points. Chris Wrey had 11 points and 12 rebounds. 

The last match of the 3rd round will be held tomorrow in Telavi. The local Burji will host Orbi.
