TSU suffered the 5th defeat in a row

The next round of the Super League, which started yesterday in Tbilisi, continues today. One match is planned in Rustavi and two in Tbilisi Olympic Palace, the first of which is over. Cactus coached by Archil Zhgenti defeated the team of Tbilisi State University with a difference of 19 points – 86:67 (Statistics) and strengthened its positions in the standings. For its part, TSU has made matters worse.

The team coached by Lekso Lapanashvili lost the 5th match in a row, which indicates a serious failure. The University finished the first round with 7 wins and 3 losses, but lost all five matches of the second round and if they do not wake up on time, there will be a question mark about going to the playoffs. Cactus beat the opponent in the beginning of the final period. They had been in the lead before, but hadn’t been able to gain an important advantage. TSU players were successful in the offense and weren’t giving Cactus an opportunity to significantly increase the difference. The first quarter ended with 3-points difference, and Cactus was winning 5 points for the big break.

In the third quarter, TSU was even further behind, which on the one hand was due to the sharp attacks of Cactus, and on the other hand was the fault of TSU’s weak defense. The last period started with the 9-point leadership of Cactus, but the meeting soon lost its meaning. The defense of TSU could not resist the attacks of Cactus. The effective performance of Samajae Haynes-Jones and Sandro Sanadze is especially noteworthy, they scored from almost every position and the leadership of Zhghenti’s team exceeded 20 points 5 minutes before the end. The fate of the game was clarified here, Cactus went to the victory without complications.

Sandro Sanadze was the most effective in Cactus, who, by the way, defended the honor of TSU in the previous season. Sanadze scored 21 points (5/5 two-pointers, 3/4 three-pointers, 2/2 free-throws). Haynes-Jones became a top-scorer with 26 points. AJ Sumbry scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Richard Caldwell was the most effective in TSU with 17 points. Brandon Sly scored 11 points.
