Current Champion Kutaisi started Super League Season with victory. While most of the teams have already hold 2 games in ongoing season, team coached by Kore Tugushi played its first match, as Supercup game took place during the first tour of Super League and Kutaisi was resting in next round.
Champions hosted last season finalist “Olimpi” and defeated opponent, which experienced second loss in ongoing season. Ambitious team aiming for championship is in the bottom of the standing.
Kutaisi was able to win the third period of the game by 34:21 which was decisive factor, as the game was equal during first 2 quarters. Despite opponent’s advantage taken in 3rd period, Olimpi had whole quarter ahead and team coached by Davit Roagava fought for cutting down the difference. After Linton Eslaise’s shoot score became 87:86. Olimpi was missing a little for the victory. Guests could not use Kutaisi’s ruined attack, Eslais missed important 3 pointer, Luka Kalatozishvili rebounded, however Dru Kuxhausen lost the ball and Olimpi missed chance for victory.
Finally Kutaisi won by 89:86 (statistics) and regained its reputation after experienced loss at Dudu Dadiani Memorial and Super Cup. Luka Maziashvili was true leader of the winners, he scored 19 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. Stanley Devis collected 16 points and 8 rebounds while Jarvis Rey and Carter Skags contributed per 13 points. As for Olimpi, Eslais collected 29 and Tavakarashvili scored 14 points.
