Olimpi defeated Batumi in overtime and closed the first circle in the 4th place

The last, 11th round of the first circle of the Super League, which started yesterday, continues today. The first of 4 matches scheduled at the Olympic Palace is over. In a tense, overtime match, Olimpi Tbilisi defeated Batumi 79:74 (Statistics) and will meet the New Year at the 4th place of the Super League standings.

It was in the 4th place before as well, but was sharing this position precisely with Batumi. Both teams had 5 wins and 4 losses and the victory was very important. The meeting also turned out to be quite tense and interesting. Olimpi was close to victory in the regular time already, however, they couldn’t maintain the 7-point advantage they had in the penultimate minute of regular time. 

Saba Lobjanidze managed to equalize the score with a three-pointer and free-throws, while Olympians failed to use three attempts in the last attack of the regular time – they missed all shots and the game went to the overtime. Batumi did not advance in the extra five minutes. After a dry 2 minutes, the Olympians scored 2 two-pointers, advanced 75:71 and maintained this important advantage until the end this time. 

Kakha Jintcharadze, the top scorer of the team and the Super League, recorded the best result in Olimpi: 25 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists. Ilia Londaridze collected 20 points and 9 rebounds. Luka Kalatozishvili scored 15 points and 15 rebounds. Giorgi Ochkhikidze was the most effective in Batumi with 14 points. Beqa Beqauri scored 13 points and 13 rebounds. Otar Pertaia collected 13 points.
