The Basketball SuperLeague was resumed after the end of the FIBA window. 1 match was held at the Tbilisi Olympic Palace, in which Tskhum-Apkhazeti and Olimpi faced each other. These teams were with 6-6 win-lose in the standings and therefore their confrontation was of great principal importance.
Both teams are quite ambitious and the victory would be a solid boost while being in the middle of the standings. The meeting also turned out to be quite tense. Tskhumi had a small advantage in the debut of the match. Joshua Mc Folly was quite productive and Nikoloz Cherkezishvili’s team gained a lead. Olimpi then picked up speed, however, before moving on to fast attacks, they strengthened their defense.
The first period ended in a draw – 25:25, and from the second one, the Olympian member of the national team, Kakha Jintcharadze, supported by legionnaires – Kendrick Thompson, Devante Foster and Donovan Smith, started to act. The Olympians won the second quarter 20:15 and went with a 5-point lead to the big break.
In the third period, the Olympians intensified their attack, which had an effect with a reliable defense. As a result, Olympus coached by Davit Rogava won the period 24:20 and advanced by 9 points before the last quarter. In the remaining time, Tskhum-Apkhazeti tried a lot, but the diligence of its players didn’t end with the victory. Olimpi held the last period of the match steadily and came to victory without any additional complications – 89:81 (Statistics).
Kakha Jintcharadze led the winners with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Kendrick Thompson collected 19 points. Devante Foster scored 14 points, while Donovan Smith had 13 points. Joshua Mc Folly was the most effective in Tskhum-Apkhazeti with 27 points. Alexandre Phevadze had 14 points and 10 rebounds. With this victory, Olimpi advanced to the 3rd place, and Tskhum-Apkhazeti dropped to the 5th.
