Kutaisi suffered its first defeat in the Super League

There is no undefeated team in the Super League any more. The leader of the tournament Kutaisi, which has won 7 out of 7 matches so far, suffered its first defeat. This heroic deed was done by the basketball club Titebi, which was at the bottom of the Super League standings and improved its situation significantly with this victory.

Titebi coached by Besik Lezhava, Lasha Gamkrelidze and Levan Japaridze gathered strength in the Super League after a rough and unsuccessful start. Lezhava’s team won in the previous round in Rustavi, and today it defeated the sole leader of the championship Kutaisi. However, the game started in such a way that nothing referred this result. Kutaisi started the game stably and after the first period they were leading with 8 points – 24:16.

Not much has changed since the big break. Titebi reduced the gap by 1 point and started playing more efficiently from the second half. With the correct defensive tactics, Titebi stopped the attacks of Kutaisi. Before the final period, Beso Lezhava’s team was only behind by 1 point and took the lead soon. Thanks to the points scored in a row, Titebi gained an 8-point lead.

Kutaisi’s head coach Kote Tughushi took a minute break several times, but could not change anything. The game ended in such a way that the situation on the court did not become tense. Titebi gained a praiseworthy victory – 91:79 (Statistics) and moved to the 5th place in the standings with a 4-4 win-loss. Isaac Asrat led the winners with 26 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds. Javion Ogunyemi collected 21 points and 10 rebounds. Levan Babilodze scored 15 points. Jarvis Ray was the most effective in Kutaisi with 19 points. Giorgi Korsantia had 17 points.
