One of the leaders of the Super League – TSU held the 6th round match in Batumi and won 81:74 (Statistics) in a tense battle. University team, coached by Lekso Lapanashvili, showed a classic example of fight and invincibility, when they did not give up after being 20-points behind in the first half and won thanks to the right tactics, reasonable play and high efficiency.
It was a match the first and second halves of which were radically different from one another. In the first quarter, the hosts stormed the guests and after winning the second period 20:8, advanced by 20 points for the big break – 53:33. The second half started with TSU dominating, whose players beat the opponent so much that they won two thirds of the third period 22:2. The university team managed to equalize the score and advance until the last period, thus psychologically breaking the hosts.
The score was equal before the last quarter and Batumi kept the chance until the last minute, however, when the team loses the 20-point advantage, they have a miserable chance to win. TSU did not let the opponent get close in the final minutes and gained the 5th victory in the 6th match.
Lovell Cabbil led the winners with 21 points and 6 assists. Ryle Owens collected 19 points, Pape Diop scored 12 points and 8 rebounds. Mikheil Berishvili was very effective with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. Soso Gognadze was the best in Batumi, scoring 15 points and 8 rebounds. Beqa Beqauri had 15 points and 7 rebounds.
The remaining 3 matches of the 6th round of the Super League will be held on November 19 in Tbilisi and Rustavi.
