Georgian U18 team held a friendly match against Latvia in Valmeira and lost in a tense fight 71:72. The team trained by Temur Kankia and Nika Tsintsadze was leading throughout the game, however, they lost in a final moment.
Georgians won the first period 21:13 and added to more points to their advantage before the big break (36:26). Latvians changed tactics from the second half and started long-range shoots. After which they managed to reduce the difference first and then gain a victory on the final second thanks to a three-pointer shot. Eventually, Latvians scored 11 three-pointers, while our team scored just 4.
Lasha Miqeladze led Georgian team with 20 points. Aleqsandre Merkviladze scored a double-double 12 points and 12 rebounds. Dachi Wavtaradze collected 10 points and 6 rebounds.
Georgian team will hold the next friendly match against Estonia, after which they will go to Romania to participate in European Championship B division.
