As expected, Georgian U-20 team defeated Kosovo as well in B division of European championship and is the leader of the group with 4/4 victories one round before the end of group phase. In spite of this, eventual success of our team is not theoreticaly decided yet.
This night, at 1:00 am, the final match of our group will be finished, in which Sweden should defeat Netherlands and our team will automaticly get a ticket for quarterfinals. Otherwise, Georgians will not have right to lose against Estonia with more than 19 points, which is already incredible.
As for the match with Kosovo, Georgia won it as easily as it was expected – 86:52. Couch let all players to go on the court. Rati Andronikashvili, however, played the most 23 minutes and Berdia Qavtaradze played the least – 10 minutes. Match with Kosovo, as well as with Armenia, was perfectly used to work tactics and strategies.
Kosovo resisted a bit in the second quarter and this period ended equally – 20:20, but Georgians showed more willingness from the third period which affected the score. Our team won the second half 47:23 and won by 34 points eventually.
Georgian team didn’t have a distinct leader. Nika Metskvarishvili was the most effective with 8 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 assists. Ivane Megeneishvili scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 2 steals. Luka Maziashvili became a top scorer with 12 points. Rati Andronikashvili scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
