From July 15th till July 24th Tbilisi will host U20 European Championship

From July 15th till July 24th Tbilisi will host U20 European Championship (Division “B”). Matches will be held at both “Olympic Palace” and newly built “Tbilisi Arena”. Following 19 teams, Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Kosovo, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland will participate in tournament.

Participants are divided into 5 groups, Georgia will play in pool B and face Sweden, North Macedonia, Austria, and Kosovo.

According to tournament system, 2 leading teams will qualify from each group, they will continue fight for championship from Quarterfinals. As for the others, they will compete for  9-19 places of the tournament. Champion of Division “B”, vice champion and 3rd place holder will qualify to division “A” and compete in elite next year.

Serbia is considered as favorite of the tournament. Latvia will visit Tbilisi with great team as well, however youth championships are always full of surprises and this years tournament should not be an exception as well.

Georgian team had 3 training sessions before championship. Team coached by Milos Gligorijevic first visited Racha for strength and conditioning trainings. Afterwards had 4 sparring matches in Turkey and Greece.

There are 12 players in Georgian Team:

Point Guard:  Luka Liklikadze; Mate Kapanadze; Levan Qvartskhava.

Forward: Nikoloz Gaphrindashvili; Zurab Vashakidze; Merab Shengelia; Guja Khvedelidze;  Vakhtang Gogberashvili; Vladimer Tavakarashvili; Vladimer Saralidze.

Center: Giorgi Meskhi; Nika Ratiani.

Head couch of Georgian team is Milos Gligorijevic, Jaba Baqradze and Andrew Antelidze are his assistants

Our team will face Austria on July 16th, Sweden on July 17th, Kosovo on July 19th and North Macedonia on July 20th. Each game will start at 19:00.
