Georgian 3x3 basketball championship opened on Lisi Lake with a Tbilisi tour

Georgian National Championship in 3×3 basketball has started. The tournament, which is known in the basketball community under the name of Geotour, has been held by the Georgian National Basketball Federation since 2014 and it is being held for the seventh time this year. Geotour is held on the FIBA Licensed court and it is included in the official FIBA 3×3 Basketball Calendar. The tournament is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs of Georgia.

Due to the recent epidemiological situation, Geotour Tbilisi Qualifying Tournament was held on Lisi Lake in compliance with regulations. All participants submitted a negative PCR test results taken in the last 24 hours. Due to state regulations, participation in the Tbilisi qualifying tournament was limited to 10 teams.

According to the Geotour format, the participants for the final tournament are selected in the qualifying tours planned in different cities of Georgia. As the largest base of 3×3 basketball, Tbilisi has 6 places in the final tournament, and from the other cities, there will be only one team selected. 

The participants of the Tbilisi qualifying tournament held on Lisi Lake were divided into 3 groups. According to the regulations, 2 Super League players could play in each team. After an interesting group stage, 4 teams advanced to the playoffs and met each other in the semifinals. Scooby defeated Easy Money 16:14, and Urban Basket beat GGG 18:14. An interesting fight took place in the final, in which Urban Basket (Vakhtang Qadaria, Giorgi Tskhovrebovi, Luka Giorgadze, Giorgi Tsirikidze) defeated Scooby 18:14 and became the winner of the tournament.

Vakhtang Qadaria was named the best player. The winning team received a prize of 300 GEL along with the cup. We would like to remind you that the prize for the winning team of the final stage, which will win the title of the champion of Georgia, is 2500 GEL, while the second place winner will receive 1000 GEL.

As we have mentioned, 6 best teams from Tbilisi qualifier – Urban Basket, Scooby, Easy Money, GGG, Ninetales and Corner Shop qualified for the final stage. The next qualifying rounds will be held in Kutaisi, Batumi, Telavi and Rustavi. 

It should be noted that the qualifying rounds in these cities will be held after the recent restrictions on sports and various events are lifted.
