The first round of A League is over

The first round of A League ended with one match today. One of the leaders of the championship, Mega met Sportuni and gained the planned victory. Sportuni players, for their part, fought to the end with their characteristic perseverance, however, having just one legionnaire, they weren’t able to resist Mega, who had 3 legionnaires. 

Sportuni managed to win the first and third periods, but with a small difference and eventually, they lost by 15 points –  78:93 (statistics). The mega players coached by Guga Pataraia strengthened the defense after losing the first period 25:27 and took the advantage. Mega won the second quarter 25:15 and advanced 50:42 for the big break.

Sportuni tried to turn the game around again and reduced the gap by 2 points in the third period as a result of an outstanding fight, however, in the final quarter, the Mega players dominated and came to a convincing victory.

Jermaine Marrow led the winners with 22 points. Aston Francis scored 20 points. Jalen Bradley had 19 points. Distinctive statistics were recorded by Chris Wrey – 27 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 1 block. Saba Geguchadze scored 17 points.

In the first round, each team played 5 matches and the leader is the undefeated Kavkasia. Mega is in the second place with 4 victories, and Zestaponi and Burji of Telavi share 3-4 places with 2-2 wins.

The second round will start on March 22, after which the 4 best teams will go to the playoffs and will continue to fight for a place in the Super League.
