3X3 Basketball tournament of the national Hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze is over in the Georgian Defense Forces. The final stage of the tournament was held on Batumi Boulevard, which opened with the anthem performed by Ana Antsukhelidze, the daughter of the national hero.
8 teams of Defense Forces units competed to win the cup in the final matches. The team of the General Staff – Orbi and the team of the Western Command Nugela played in the finale. The game was held with a transitional advantage and finally ended with the victory of Nugela, with the score 11:7.
The prize places at the Giorgi Antsukhelidze Transitional Cup tournament were distributed as follows: – The 2nd place was won by the team of the General Staff Orbi, and the 3rd place – by the military police team Sarangi. By the decision of the Minister of Defense Irakli Gharibashvili, a prize fund was created. Each member of the first place team received a reward of 1500 GEL. Cash prizes from the prize fund of the Minister of Defense also went to the players of the second and third place teams – in the amount of 1000 and 500 GEL. The winning teams were also awarded medals.
The tournament named after National Hero Giorgi Antsukhelidze opened on his birthday on August 18 and it will be held every year. At the final match of the tournament, it became known that the Basketball National Federation will support the son of Giorgi Antsukhelidze, who has a great interest in this sport, in development and they will help him study basketball at a professional level.
