Basketball club Dinamo Tbilisi took the third place in the Super League. The team coached by Muhammed Tachi, who finished 7th in the regular season, competed successfully in the playoffs and eventually hit the top three. Dinamo defeated Cactus coached by Archil Zhghenti 95:85 (Statistics) in the match for the third place and won the bronze medals.
Cactus lacked one of the leaders in this match – AJ Sumbry, and Zhghenti’s team played with the only legionnaire. Samajae Hynes-Jones is a pretty good basketball player, but in the absence of Sumbry, Cactus had a hard time under the cover. In addition to this, the leader of Dinamo, Luka Bulashvili played quite productively and the match did not turn out to be tense. Dinamo won the first period by 5 points, the second one by – 6, and in the third quarter they beat the opponent 25:18.
Dinamo’s advantage reached 21 points in the fourth period, after which the fate of the match was determined and the last minutes of the match became a formality. Luka Bulashvili led Dinamo with 28 points. Nikoloz Darbaidze had 22 points and 9 rebounds. Michael Edwards finished the game with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists. Sandro Sanadze was the most effective in Cactus with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Levan Maskhulia scored 21 points and 6 rebounds, while Samajae Hynes-Jones had 17 points.
At the end of the game, Dinamo players and team representatives were awarded bronze medals and the relevant diploma. They were awarded by the President of the Georgian National Basketball Federation, Paata Guraspauli.
The champion is still to be revealed in the Super League. The final series is up to 3 wins. Rustavi beats Tskhum-Apkhazeti 2:0 so far and the third match of the series will be held on May 27, at the Olympic Palace, at 17:00.
