Europe Square hosted Jr.NBA annual draw ceremony

With the joint organization of the National Basketball Association (NBA), the US Embassy in Georgian and the Georgian National Basketball Federation, the children’s largest basketball project – Junior NBA League is being held for the fifth time in Georgia. This year, the season of 2021, 77 teams and up to 1,300 basketball players of under-12 age category, from across the country are participating, including the qualifying round. The project is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth affairs of Georgia.

The Junior NBA League is held on a similar principle to the NBA. Each team in the league represents one team from the National Basketball Association and at the final stage, in total, 900 basketball players participating in A and B leagues will be given NBA uniforms and balls. A League games will be held in Tbilisi, Rustavi, Gori, Telavi, Kutaisi and Batumi according to divisions and B League games will be hosted solely by Tbilisi.

The largest children’s basketball project in Georgia – Junior NBA, is the global youth program for girls and boys. It is a significant project for the next, younger generation, promoting a healthy lifestyle, popularizing basketball, and discovering and developing promising youngsters. The Junior NBA League provides an opportunity for future basketball players, coaches and parents to deepen their basketball skills and share the joy of playing basketball.

The draw ceremony for the 2021 season was held today, on June 20, on the Europe Square, on a specially arranged basketball court, where the teams participating in the Junior NBA were named after NBA clubs.

Following the draft, a 3×3 basketball festival started with the participation of Junior NBA teams, which will end tonight.

The event was attended by national team players, veteran basketball players and other invited guests.
