FIBA 3X3 U18 Europe Cup has started today. 24 teams of 16 countries (12 boys team, 12 girls team) are participating in the tournament. Georgia is also represented by U18 boys’ and girls’ teams.
Europe Cup was opened today, on 6 September at Rike Park and will end on 8 September with an award ceremony. The opening ceremony was impressive. The event was opened by Cheerleaders, after which performed the National Ensemble of Sukhishvilebi.
The official part of the opening ceremony was dedicated to presenting the national flags of the participating countries, after which Kamil Novak, Executive Director of FIBA Europe, welcomed the audience. Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Shalva Gogoladze and President of the Georgian Basketball National Federation Paata Guraspauli also said their words.
Georgian U18 Women’s Team played on the first day of the tournament. Our team held two matches – against Hungary and Germany and unfortunately lost both of these games. First match ended with 6:15 with Hungaru and the second score was 6:21 with Germany. Accordingly, Georgian Women’s team wasn’t able to go to the playoffs and finished competing.
Tomorrow, on September 7, Georgian U18 Men’s Team will hold games against France and Estonia with the following schedule:
Georgia – France – 19:30
Georgia – Estonia – 21:00
