Tbilisi Olympic Palace hosted the Junior NBA-GBF League sortation

The junior NBA-GBF League sortation was held in Tbilisi today. 450 players of 30 teams participating in the tournament were gathered at Tbilisi Olympic Palace.

Junior NBA-GBF league is held in Georgia for the third time. It is the largest tournament in which participate more than 1000 teenagers. Over 80 teams were fighting this year for playing in the main stage of the tournament. However, only 30 of them came into the Junior NBA-GBF league.

Representatives of basketball community, players of national team, Ministry of Culture and Sports  and Tbilisi City Hall attended the sortation ceremony. The heads of the Georgian Olympic Committee, sponsors of basketball federation, partners, journalists and actors took part in this event.

Invited guests awarded the participating 30 teams with the names of NBA clubs. Irakli Dolaberidze, head of Sports Department of the Ministry of Sport and Culture of Georgia and Paata Guraspauli –  the president of the Georgian Basketball National Federation, welcomed the audience before the sortation.

The ceremony turned out to be very festive and cheerful. The participants of the tournament from the various cities of Georgia – Telavi, Lagodekhi, Sagarejo, Rustavi, Sokhumi, Tbilisi, Gori, Kaspi, Khashuri, Kutaisi, Sachkhere, Chiatura, Batumi, Ozurgeti, Poti, Senaki –  were excited to announce the names of the teams they had met. All the teams were distributed in 6 divisions, similar to the American professional league.

The 6 Divisions of Junior NBA-GBF League will be held in the following cities: Telavi, Rustavi, Tbilisi, Gori, Kutaisi and Batumi. Similar to the American National Basketball Association, 6 divisions are divided into 2 conferences.

After the regular championship and playoff rounds, teams will move to the capital city, where four finals will be held.
