Mgzavrebi beats Cactus and Batumi stays in the Superleague

16th tour of the Superleague is over. Final match was quite tense and interesting. One of the leaders- Mgzavrebi and Cactus met each other. The latter is fighting to stay in the Superleague. The fate of the match was revealed in the final minutes. Before that, there was a fight for quite valuable thing.

The result of this match was meaningful mostly for Cactus: Archil Jgenti’s team necessarily needed victory to stay in the fight for Superleague. It is true, they remained chance, but just theoretical and difficult to achieve. They have to win remaining 2 matches, one with Titebi by minimum 17 points. And Titebi should lose with TSU-Hyundai.

So, it was important to defeat Mgzavrebi today, but Cactus couldn’t manage it. Buba Berishvili’s team has chance to take 2nd place in the regular championship and get the court-advantage with any rival before finals. Their direct opponent – Dinamo lost with Batumi today, accordingly, Mgzavrebi’s chance was increased. They wisely used this chance and defeated Cactus – 94:85.

Adrian Bowie led the winners with quite rare triple-double – 19 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds. Prince Williams was a top scorer with 24 points. Jacob Armstrong scored 19 points. Kakha Jintcharadze had a double-double – 13 points and 11 rebounds. Delano Spencer was the most effective with 29 points in Cactus. Dominic Elliot scored 18 points and 10 rebounds.

One more interesting fact: Owing to the lose of Cactus, Batumi officialy stayed in the Superleague. Titebi is also on the line. They have right to lose remaining 2 matches, but as we have mentioned above, they shouldn’t lose by 17 points against Cactus.
