Montenegro Will Visit Tbilisi Without Vučević and young Fedor Žugić

Montenegro, one of Georgia’s EuroBasket opponents, announced roaster. It is surprising that Montenegro’s most successful and powerful player, Nikola Vučević, is absent, as are other young and promising players.

Montenegro will have to compete without Nikola Vučević, who plays for Chicago Bulls. Last Season he was in starting five for all 73 games and collected average 17.6 points. 11.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

The absence of 18-year-old Fedor Žugić is a significant loss for our opponent as well. Žugić was one of the top five players at the 2022 U20 European Championship, where he collected  average 18.0 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists and helped team to earn bronze medals.

Head coach Boško Radović included Žugić in roaster and had huge hope for him, however as it became clear later, young player has several injuries and will undergo rehabilitation process in Munich. According to Radovich, he will not jeopardize the health of a young player for the sake of a tournament.

Despite such loss National Team of Montenegro will visit Tbilisi with strong team. We should distinguish Dino Radoncic (Saragosa, Spain) Nemanja Radovic, (Mursia, Spain) Bojan Dubljevic (Valencia, Spain) Marko Simonovic, (Chicago, NBA) Marko Todorovic (Beijing, China) and American Kendrick Perry, who signed contract with Malaga this summer.

National Team of Montenegro will have main part of preparation stage in Bari, where we will held friendly matches. On 4-5th of August, they will face Slovenia and Netherlands, play against Serbia on August 13th, North Macedonia will visit Bari on August 16th.
