Olimpi equalized the series with Tskhum-Apkhazeti

Basketball club Olimpi showed a strong character and equalized the total score in the quarterfinal series with Tskhum-Apkhazeti despite a 0:1 deficit and a significant loss. As you are aware, due to the incident in the previous match, Olimpi lost 2 players – one of the leaders, legionnaire Devante Foster and young Davit Abuladze. Let us remind you that these players quarreled with each other in the bench area in the final period of the previous march, which is why the Super League punished them both financially and disciplinary.

Additionally, Olimpi lacked another legionnaire – Kendrick Thompson due to injury and also the team did not have the right to lose, because they would have given up the series this way. The Olympians coached by Davit Rogava managed to defeat Tskhum-Apkhazeti with the remaining resources. They gained solid leadership thanks to their fast, accurate and orderly game and managed to maintain it throughout the game.

After the first period, Olimpi was winning 10 points, after the second, they were leading by 12, and before the last period, the difference reached 15 points. Tskhum-Apkhazeti managed to reduce the gap to 3 points 3 minutes before the end of the match, but Kakha Jincharadze’s much-needed three-pointer allowed Olimpi to maintain its lead until the end.

Kakha Jintcharadze led Olimpi, he was the best in attack and was distinguished by his usual toughness and stability in defense. Kakha collected 24 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists. Interesting statistics were recorded by Donovan Smith, who scored 20 points in the first 15 minutes and then didn’t score anything in the remaining time. Another legionnaire of Olimpi – Bundu Abdulai finished the meeting with 14 points. Joshua Mc Folly was the most effective in Tskhum-Apkhazeti with 18 points. Alexandre Phevadze had 13 points.

The third, decisive match of the series between these teams will take place on May 10, at the Olympic Palace.
