Rustavi won the second match of the final series in the battle

Rustavi basketball team is one step closer to the championship. Qvemo Qartli team coached by Anatoli Boisa also won the second match of the final series of the Super League against Tskhum-Apkhazeti and advanced with a total score of 2:0. The series lasts up to three wins and Rustavi has a good chance to repeat the result of 11 years ago, when they became the champions of Georgia for the last time.

For its part, despite being 0:2 behind, Tskhum-Apkhazeti coached by Nikoloz Cherkezishvili hopefully watches the next matches and will not give up anything easily. The reason for this is the matches that Tskhumi held in Rustavi. The second match held today is especially noteworthy, in which the Tbilisi team was close to victory.

Cherkezishvili’s team played much better today, but at the crucial moment Rustavi showed more mobilization, Anatoli Boisa’s team also got a little lucky and the match ended with the victory of the hosts – 74:71 (Statistics).

At the last second, Nodar Gogodze shot an equalizing three-pointer, which did not fall into the basket. However, it must be said that Tskhumi had had a chance to equalize and advance before that. Alexandre Phevadze missed the chance to promote Tskhumi twice at the last minute. The shots of the national team player missed the goal, however, if more attention had been paid, Tskhumi should not have taken the case so far.

At the last minute the score was tied – 69:69, however, as we’ve mentioned above, Tskhumi missed several attacks, Rustavi – scored some balls and the victory was left to the hosts. Maliek White led the winners with 27 points. Jylan Washington scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Michael Davis had 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Alexandre Phevadze and Raheem Johnson were the most effective in Tskhum-Apkhazeti with 15-15 points and 6-6 rebounds each. Joshua Mc Folly collected 12 points and 11 assists.

The 3rd match of the final series will be held at the Tbilisi Olympic Palace on May 27, at 17:00.
