Kutaisi Defeated Rustavi in Sensational Game and is the first Semi-Finalist of Dudu Dadiani Memorial Tournament

Only ,8 out of 15 games within Dudu Dadiani Memorial Tournaments were held, but the identity of the first semifinalist is already known. “Kutaisi 2010”, which created huge sensation in Olympic palace today, will play in the next round of the competition.

The fact itself, that Kutaisi coached by Kote Tugushi defeated Rustavi is not surprising. However, sensational was the comeback they had in the game. 2 minutes before the final buzzer, Rustavi was leading with 14 points 93:79. Since then, players from Rustavi could not score a point. On the contrary, Kutaisi scored 17 points in a row and won game by 96:93(Statistics).  Cutting down such huge difference in less then 2 minutes rarely happens in basketball. Out of 17 golden points, Stanley Davis scored the most 7, Luka Maziaishvili contributed 5 points, Jarvis Rey collected -3 points and Giorgi Barkbakadze helped team with 2 points. With this victory, Kutaisi advanced to the semifinals of Dudu Dadiani Memorial Torunament, as they have won 2 games in their pool. Tugushi’s team will have a rest for 2 days and fight for the right to play in the final on October 16th.

As for other groups, nothing is decided there. “B” group has 2 leaders: “Olimpi” and “Caucasus”, both of them have 2 victories and will face each other for revealing the winner of the group on October 14th. “Olimpi” defeated “Tulips” in tense game by 87:80(Statistics). Outcome of the game was decided at the last minutes of the game. As for Caucasus, debutant of Super League gained victory in equal game at the last seconds of the match. Team coached by Beka Tsivsivadze defeated “Vera” by 85:83 (Statistics). Just like previous game, three pointer by legionary Justin Foster was decisive factor. American scored points at the last second of the game.

As for Group “A”, identity of semi-finalist is unknown here as well. “TSU” defeated “Apkhazia” in very tense game by 80:81. “Batumi” defeated “Kaktus” by 80:67. On October 14th “Tsu” will face “Batumi” and winner will be qualifying to the next round of the competition.
