Three Regions Receive Basketball Equipment Through Development Program

The National Basketball Federation’s Regional Development Department continues its proactive efforts, recently delivering basketball equipment to three regions in Georgia as part of their ongoing development program.

The latest visits to the Mtskheta-Mtianeti, Shida Kartli, and Samtskhe-Javakheti regions were carried out in collaboration with the FIBA Youth Development Fund. This program, active for several years, aims to supply regional basketball federations with essential equipment. This time, the cities of Kaspi, Akhaltsikhe, and the village of Misaksieli received a variety of basketball gear.

The visit to Misaksieli was notable as it was the first-time representatives from the basketball federation had been there. The village hosts active boys’ and girls’ basketball programs in the local public-school gym, which was in need of equipment. The school received basketball backboards, balls, uniforms, and other necessary items. Aleko Kistauri, President of the Mtskheta-Mtianeti Regional Basketball Federation, facilitated this visit.

In Kaspi, local coaches from across the Shida Kartli region, including Khashuri, Gori, and Ratcha, welcomed the federation representatives. Alongside various equipment, the region received a modern shooting technique simulator, which will be placed in Gori, the largest basketball city in Shida Kartli.

The final stop was Akhaltsikhe, the basketball hub of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. Federation officials were greeted by local government leaders, including the mayor of Akhaltsikhe, Irakli Lazarashvili, and municipality employees. Plans were announced to renovate the Akhaltsikhe sports club’s basketball hall and build a new, dedicated basketball facility.

The delegation, comprising Federation Vice President Nikoloz Tskitishvili, Regional Development Department Head Shalva Oniani, his deputy Aleko Petriashvili, and members of the technical and press services, visited each location. Teenagers in the regions were thrilled to meet Tskitishvili, who conducted training sessions, signed autographs, and posed for photos.

The National Basketball Federation remains committed to its regional development program, ensuring that all basketball schools receive the necessary equipment to properly train and develop young athletes.
