Rustavi beats Mgzavrebi 84:72

Basketball Club Rustavi won its second match in the current Superleague. Despite the fact that the team trained by Georgios Ketselidis, lacked some leading players – Merab Boqolishvili, Goga Tsekvava and Gegi Baqradze due to injuries, they gained the victory anyway. The Rustavi team is so balanced and strong in roster that they can go through any difficulity with the available resources. Eventually, they defeated Mgzavrebi – 84:72.

Rustavians had problems in the first half though. They were losing by 11 points. Mgzavrebi players were both fast and accurate and Rustavi wasn’t able to tie the game for some time. However, Georgios Ketselidis and his assistants – Anatoli Boisa and Mikheil Beruashvili gave different tasks on the big break and the team changed tactic from the third period.

Thanks to the effectiveness of Nikola Tadic, Akaki Lomouri and Zura Vashakidze and productive shots of IliaLondaridze, Rustavi managed to win the third periof 29:11 and advanced by 8 points – 68:60 before the final quarter.

Mgzavrebi players fought and even reduced the difference to 3-4 points several times, but couldn’t do more. Rustavi brought it to the end convincingly. Ilia Londaridze led the winners with 18 points. Saba Lobjanidze was the most effective having 12 points, 4 steals, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Nikola Tadich collected 13 points. Oto Pkhakadze had 11 points and 4 assists. Giorgi Qavtaradze was a top-scorer in Mgzavrebi, he had 16 points. Darel Combs scored 14 and Soso Gognadze had 10 points and 17 rebounds.
