Georgian U16 Team finished European Championship on the 20th place. Georgians played against Slovakia in the match for the 19th place and lost one of the most tense matches with two overtimes – 86:87.
Main time of the match ended equally 66:66. The next 5 minutes also weren’t enough to reveal the winner. Georgia was really close to victory in the second overtime. Our team was winning 86:86 few seconds before the final siren and Giorgi Sulaberidze missed 2 free-throws. Slovakians rebounded and scored a winning two-pointer o.5 seconds before the end – 87:86.
Luka Liklikadze was the most effective in this painful failure, he scored 25 points, 7 steals, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Liklikadze fouled out early. Luka Avaliani collected 24 points and 5 steals, Sandro Kasaburi had 13 points.
With this result, Georgian Team finished European Championship B division on 20th place. The best three team Poland, Netherlands and Denmark will play in A division next year.
