Sweden captured the FIBA U18 European Championship, Division B title in Romania as they defeated Denmark by 79:66. Together with the finalist teams, Finland earned the right to promote to the “A” Division. Georgian National Team finished 15th out of 22 teams. Davit Rogava’s team defeated Bulgaria 64:41 in the championship’s last game. Georgian U18 could not advance from group phase because of Bulgaria as we lost game against them by 66:70. Georgians could still qualify from group if Bulgarians lost against Norway, but…
To sum up, neither Bulgaria, nor Georgians could promote to next round, Netherlands overcame both of us. Two teams faced off again in the qualification round. Georgians defeated their opponent by 23 points this time. Giorgi Ochkhekidze, who had 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists, was our team’s most vulnerable player. Giorgi Sulaberidze had 17 points and 17 rebounds, while Vato Gachechiladze had 12 points and 6 rebounds.
U18 Georgian team finished competition at this years “B” Division and will continue fight to promote next year.
