Georgian National Team Arrived in Slovenia

Georgian National Team has traveled for Slovenia, where they will have training camp for next 10 days. Team coached by Ilias Zouros will be living in mountain region, city Rogla and will be provided with great training facilities. With this training camp, National team has started final rounds of preparations for EuroBasket during which, Georgians will held 7 friendly and 2 official games, for World Cup Qualifications Rounds.

As you know, our team is promoted to second round of world cup qualification series, and we have great chance to play at the championship itself. Team of Ilias Zouros has 6 more games to play for 2nd rounds of qualification against Italy, Iceland, and Netherlands. Before start of EuroBasket, Georgia will face Netherlands and Italy.

Because of knee injury Goga Bitadze is flying to Indiana, instead of Rogla, where he will undergo medical examinations once again. Exactly there, doctors will decide what kind of treatment is necessary for his improvement. As soon as Goga feels better, he will join National Team. Will it happen in Slovenia or after National Team’s return to homeland, is still unknown. Another player representing Georgia in NBA, Sandro Mamukelashvili, will not be attending trainings in Slovenia as well. According to the new American regulations, player of professional league is allowed to spent only 28 days in National Team. “Milwaukee Bucks” has strictly outlined this period to Mamukelashvili and did not allow him to join team during trainings as well. Consequently he has permission to start training in National team from August 4th.

After the end of Slovenian training camp, our team will travel to Kecskemet, nearby city in Hungary, and will held 2 sparing games on 5th and 6th August there. First play against Hungary will be open and fans will also have chance to attend, as for the second one, game will be closed.

From July 21st till July 24th National Team was training in Vera Basketball Palace. Before travelling, our team underwent medical examination and took PCR tests.

After coming back from Hungary our National Team will continue training in Tbilisi and on August 11th and 13th will face Israel in sparing games. On August 15th out team will travel for Greece, homeland of Ilias Zouros, and participate in “Akropolis Cup”. Together with host Greeks, National Teams of Turkey and Poland will also compete.
