The 3×3 basketball championship named after the national hero of Georgia, Giorgi Antsukhelidze began in Georgian Defense Forces
Basketball tournament “3X3” will be held in two stages and the teams of the Georgian Defense Forces and the reservists of the National Guard will take part in it. At the first qualifying stage, teams of different units with each other. The winners will continue their fight for championship in the second stage, which will take place in Batumi. It should be noted that Para basketball demonstration game for wounded servicemen will also take place in Batumi Boulevard.
The reservists of the National Guard will participate in the tournament for the first time. On August 19, the winning team will receive the transitional cup named after Giorgi Antsukhelidz and and holders of prize-winning places will be awarded the special medals and certificates. The 3×3 Basketball Championship named after Giorgi Ankshelidze is organized by the Georgian Defense Forces with the support of the National Basketball Federation. The championship became tradition and aims on raising the level of a healthy lifestyle and sports spirit in the Georgian Defense Forces.
At the opening ceremony, Georgian Defense Minister, Juansher Burchuladze and Chairman of Georgian Basketball Federation Board, Paata Guraspauli addressed the participants. Mr. Guraspauli outlined that Basketball Federation will give the winning team opportunity to attended European Championship games.
The tournament is named after Giorgi Antsukhelidze. The Minister of Defense presented gifts to the children of the national hero, and Paata Gurashpauli together with world and European champion Nikoloz Deriugin, presented balls signed by members of the Georgian national basketball team.
