Georgian Veterans’ Team went to Finland to play for the World Championship

Georgian Veterans’ Team went to Finland to participate in the World Basketball Championship. Veterans of many countries around the world assembled in the city of Espoo and will compete in various age categories in the World Championship. Georgians will perform in 50+ age group, where 28 counties gather.

Before we go to the details of this year’s championship, we remind you that Georgian veterans have been training regularly and are very active in the international arena. Our team annually participates in the world and European championships and has quite good results.

The members of the team are former basketball players – including the President of the Georgian Basketball National Federation Paata Guraspauli, his advisor Zaza Ghonghadze and President of the company “Hyundai Auto Georgia” David Giorgobiani. Right with the assistance of the company “Hyundai” and the Georgian Basketball National Federation, Georgian veterans are still able to participate in international activities and have an active relationship with the world basketball family.

In the age category (50+) where Georgia is playing, there are 28 teams in total. 7 groups of 4 teams are created from which 16 of the best players will go to the second stage. This is followed by playoffs. Georgia’s rivals in the group are Italy, Columbia and Poland.
