Mgzavrebi defeated Delta 81:74 in the opening match of the Super League

The 28th National Championship started today. Tbilisi Olympic Palace hosts three matches of Super League today and the remaining 2 matches of the first round will be held on November 11 in Kutaisi and Rustavi.

Mgzavrebi beat Delta 81:74 in the first match. A team trained by Buba Berishvili defeated the winner of Dudu Dadiani Cup without any efforts. There was only one leader in this game, after starting with 7 points lead, Mgzavrebi maintained the advantage until the very end.

Mgzavrebi’s success was due to their good defensive play and fast attacks. Adrian Bowie and Kakha Jincharadze were distinguished by their fast and accurate shots, with Jakob Armstrong and Emmanuel Ndumania helping them by forceful play. Delta was losing by 10 points after the first half and they couldn’t manage to tie the game after a big break.

In the remaining time Delta players only managed to reduce the difference but eventually, Mgzavrebi won the first match of the season. Adrian Bowie led the winners with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Kakha Jintcharadze collected 21 points and 5 assists. Rezo Chachanidze and Jakob Armstrong had 14-14 points each. Malcolm Drumwright was the most effective with 14 points in Delta. Artem Shvets scored double-double – 12 points and 11 rebounds.
