Kutaisi - the leader of the Super League had its first failure at home
The 4th tour of Super League started with an interesting match in Kutaisi today. The capital of Imereti hosted Mgzavrebi and lost the match for the first time in the current championship. The match was equal, tense and interesting, the fate of which was decided on the last seconds, before that both teams retained the chance to win.
Mgzavrebi added Congolese centre – Christian Musoko to their roster. Who played for the first time in Kutaisi and made a big contribution to his team’s victory. The hosts won the first period by 5 points, but Kutaisi managed to gain the leadership 41:40 in the second period.
The third period ended equally – 20:20 and everything should be decided in the last quarter. The fight lasted until the last seconds. Kutaisi was close to victory: after De Juan Wright’s accurate 2-pointer, they advanced by 4 points 2 minutes before the end of the match. However, Mgzavrebi equalized the score with the lead of Kakha Jintcharadze and Jacob Armstrong. Then, Rezo Chachanidze scored a 3-pointer and advanced his team 79:76. Mgzavrebi who had 2 loses before, gained a second victory. Armstrong led the winners with 20 points. Adrian Bowie scored 19 points. Christian Musoko accumulated 12 points. De Juan Wright was the most effective with 25 points in Kutaisi. Jonathan Lee had 16 points. Akaki Dvalishvili scored 13 points and 8 rebounds.
