Vera won the 6th match in a row against Dinamo and topped the Super League standings

The Super League has a new leader. It is true that Vera isn’t leading with lost points, but it has the most points in the total amount. With 7 wins and 2 losses, the team coached by Davit Gasitashvili is in the first place, Kutaisi and TSU are behind it with 7-7 victories from 8 matches.

Vera has the longest winning streak this season after Kutaisi. Today, in the final match of the 9th round, Vera faced Dinamo and won 101:92 (Statistics). This was their 6th win in a row, which is a brilliant result in a more or less equal league.

Overall, Vera didn’t have trouble defeating Dinamo. It just took Gasitashvili’s team time to confront the appropriate tactics to the opponent’s game. Dinamo trained by Jolivet Toudjan won the first period 24:22, but they could not strengthen their leadership in the second one and were 3 points behind for the big break.

From the third period, Vera’s advantage became obvious. Fast attacks, long-range shots and reliable defense – all this resulted in Vera advancing by 17 points in the 7th minute of the third period – 77:60. It almost meant a victory, but Dinamo fought back and reduced the gap to 5 points in the remaining time – 85:90 4 minutes before the end of the match. Here, Vera made efforts again – with Boris Tortladze’s 2 two-pointers and breakthrough of Zac Seljaas, they increased the advantage to 10 points again and decided the fate of the match.

Zac Seljaas led the winners with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Aubrey McAlpine scored 18 points. Darrell Brown had 16. Vladimer Tavakarashvili was the most effective in Dinamo with 26 points. Dante Thompson collected 23 points. 

Dinamo has only 1 victory out of 8 matches and is in the last place, Vera is the leader of the standings with 7 wins out of 9 matches. The next round matches will be held on December 23, 24 and 25 in 4 cities – Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi and Tbilisi.
