Tskhum-Apkhazeti won the Supercup of the legendary basketball player and coach, Otar Qorqia. The team, who became champion with the name of Delta in the previous season, defeated current cup owners – Titebi today. Zviad Antadze’s debut as a head coach turned out successful. His team – Tskhum-Apkhazeti beat Titebi in a quite tense and interesting match 72:70 and won one of the important titels of the season.
The match turned out quite tense, emotional and interesting, in which the equal fight took place from the beginning to the end. There was an episode in the third period, when Tskhum-Apkhazeti advanced 14:0 and gained 8-points leadership, however, Lasha Gamkrelidze’s team reduced this different soon and game continued equally again.
Tskhum-Apkhazeti was winning 60:53 in the beginning of the final period, but Titebi still managed to lead thanks to the team-game. By the merit of Aaron Calixte, Beso Lezhava and Nika metreveli’s effectiveness, Titebi advanced 61:60 after which the match continued extremally tensely. Eventually, final minutes were decisive, when Vakhtang Gaprindashvili, Giorgi Sharabidze and Kwan Waller scored 3-pointers with the bonus free-throw of the latter and Tskhum-Apkhazeti advanced by 4 points – 72:68.
Despite all this, Titebi still managed to gain a chance with a 2-pointer, but in the remaining 18 seconds, they weren’t able to equalize the score. The prize ceremony was held after the match. Otar Qorqias son, an honored coach and master of sports of international level – Nodar Qorqia awarded a captain of Tskhum-Apkhazeti – Zuka Machaladze with a Supercup.
