Recently, in July, Georgia hosted the FIBA U-20 European Challenger, where teams from France, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria and Poland participated together with our U-20 national team. Our country has successfully hosted this event. The Georgian National Basketball Federation would like to thank once again all the supporters and partners who have made a significant contribution to the high level organization of the FIBA U20 European Challenger.
From August 9 to 14, Georgia will host another international event, this time FIBA U16 Women’s Challenger, where teams from Albania, Northern Macedonia, Malta and Armenia will participate together with our team.
Despite the pandemic in the country and its difficult challenges, the Georgian National Basketball Federation is trying its best to carry out important activities that will not hinder and will contribute to the development and advancement of the future generation and basketball.
The Games will be held at the Tbilisi Sports Palace (address: 26 May Square), without spectators, with the “bubble” principle, in accordance with the regulations of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and those related to the new coronavirus (Covid-19) infection (SARS-COV-2).
According to the “bubble” system, all five teams – Georgia, Albania, Northern Macedonia, Malta and Armenia will gather in Tbilisi and stay in one hotel. Teams will only move for practices and games and will not have contact with each other except on the playing court directly on the days of the matches.
