For Media Attention - Accreditations for the FIBA Under-20 European Challenger

From 20 to 25 July, 2021, Georgia will host an international event, the FIBA Under-20 European Challenger, conducting of which was decided by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) due to the Covid-19 pandemic. High-ranking teams such as France, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria and Poland are visiting Georgia within the framework of European challenger.

The Games will be held at the Tbilisi Sports Palace (address: 26 May Square) with the “bubble” principle, in accordance with the regulations of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and those related to the new coronavirus (Covid-19) infection (SARS-COV-2).

According to the “bubble” system, all six teams – Georgia, France, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria and Poland will gather in Tbilisi and stay in one hotel. Teams will only move for practices and games and will not have contact with each other except on the playing court directly on the days of the matches.

According to the competition format, the participants of the six-team groups will play in one round and the winner will be the one who finishes in the first place in the standings.
