The National Basketball Federation’s ongoing regional development project recently included visits to the Oni and Sachkhere regions of Georgia. During these visits, Vice President Nikoloz Tskitishvili and Regional Development Department Head Shalva Oniani delivered standard basketball equipment as well as innovative shooting technique simulators.
The equipment provided to Racha-Lechkhumi, Zemo Svaneti, and Imereti will be distributed from Oni and Sachkhere to other cities within these regions. This program, run in collaboration with FIBA’s Youth Development Fund (YDF), ensures that regional basketball federations receive essential items such as basketballs, modern scoreboards, backboards, uniforms, and special glasses to enhance dribbling skills. Coaches also receive necessary tools, including coaching boards, whistles, and various sports gear.
In a strategic move, the basketball federation decided to include modern shooting simulators in the equipment deliveries. These simulators, manufactured in Turkey, are designed to help beginner players master shooting techniques and are also beneficial for adults looking to improve their shooting skills.
The next phase of the project will include visits to the Adjara, Samegrelo, and Zemo Svaneti regions in July to continue distributing equipment and supporting basketball development throughout Georgia
